Meeting “Minutes”

  1. The annual meeting of the ASEE Academy of Fellows was called “to order” by Jolly Good Fellow John Prados, promptly at 7:40 am. We had breakfast, which arrived “just in time.” The table cloths did not make it, but this group has long toughed it out.
  2. Attendance: Sherra Kerns, Frank Huband, David Wormley, John Lamancusa, Frank Croft, Tom McWilliams, Adeyinka Adeyiga, Robert English, Frank Gourley, David Baker, Gary Crossman, John McDonough, Marvin Criswell, Mary Anderson-Rowland, Jack Waintraub, Cary Fisher, Lucy Morse, Ron Barr, Nick Altiero, Wallace Fowler, John Steadman, Art Johnson, Ray Jacquot, Dan Turner, Ernst Smerdon, William Wilhelm, Ed Jones, Dayne Aldridge, John Prados, Karan Watson, Gerald Jakubowski, Tom Edgar, Carl Locke, Stewart Slater, Bill Keantz, Angelo Perna, Lyle Feisel, Ted Bickart, Jerry Thuesen, Don Merino, Marway Simaan, Art Murphy, Dave Irwin, Jack Lohmann, Joe Shaeiwitz, and Richard Felder.
  3. The new Fellows introduced themselves:
    Adeyinka Adeyiga, Hampton, who volunteered to serve the Academy as requested
    Nicholas Altero, Tulane
    Christina Amon, CMU (not present)
    Tom Edgar, U Texas Austin
    John Lamankuska, Penn State
    Carl Locke, U of Kansas
    Jack Lohmann, Georgia Tech
    Tom Riggon (not present)
    Joe Shaewitz (giving a paper), WVU
    Marwan Simaan, U of Pittsburgh
    John Steadman, U of South Alabama
  4. Sherra Kerns, Fellow and President of ASEE, greeted all of the new Fellows and the old ones.
  5. Frank Huband, Executive Director, brought ASEE greetings. He outlined future meeting places. Total attendance is about 3333, with 2222 professional attendees. He pointed out that meetings next year are not late, but this one is early.
  6. John appointed Dave Irwin and himself to be a nominating committee for 2006.
  7. Correspondence from Fellows:
    a. Vince Hanneman has a new address—1906 Leoneard St., #4, Columbus, GA 31906. He sends greetings to all.
    b. Karl Reid was unable to attend, as he was en route to Taiwan and Vietnam on a Business and Education Mission led by the Secretary of Commerce and the Chancellor of Higher Education in Oklahoma. Maybe we will get a report in 2006?
  8. Angie Perna and Lyle Feisel must have had laryingitis, as the meeting adjourned before the scheduled 8:15 am time.
