For many engineering faculty, cultivation of students' professional skills, such as communication, teamwork, and interpersonal competencies, remains both a priority and a challenge. The purpose of this workshop is to provide faculty with effective pedagogies for incorporating professional skills development in their technical courses. Models will be drawn from a variety of engineering and computer science disciplines, with a focus on efficient preparation, implementation, and assessment. At the end of the workshop, attendees will have a workbook of relevant examples and two completed assignments with rubrics that they can implement in their courses. Attendees will also have guidelines for disseminating change to colleagues. Presenters in the workshop are team members of REvolutionizing engineering and computer science departments (RED) projects and of RED Participatory Action Research project, both funded by the National Science Foundation.
